Paint and Timber

Heron Joinery protects their soft wood windows prior to assembly using Protim double vacuum preservative treatment system. All joinery components are Protim Prevac treated after all machining, prior to assembly.

Formulations are applied in accordance with the recent European Standards regime, rather than by using the more traditional British Standards criteria. A 30 year Desired Service Life, in accordance with BS8417: 2003 therefore applies to factory finished joinery treated with Protim Clearchoice preservative.

Protim Clearchoice

Protim Clearchoice pressure treated wood is suitable for use in construction projects that require protection to hazard categories UC1, UC2, UC3 such as roof timbers, timber framing, internal and external joinery and other internal and external timber projects that are above dpc/ground level. When using Protim Clearchoice in external applications it will need to be coated with a suitable external coating.

Protim Benefits

Protim Clearchoice pressure treated wood is very cost effective when balanced against the potential expense that could be incurred in future remedial treatments and refurbishment. By using Protim Clearchoice pressure treated wood you can extend the service life of timber projects. Effective against wood boring beetles, wet rot and dry rot fungi.

Heron Joinery offers a range of timber types including;

  • Green Split Softwood
  • Selected heartwood
  • Modified Timber

Hardwoods for window and door manufacture

Heron Joinery has a range of responsibly sourced (FSC approved), high quality hardwood sections for their window and door manufacture.  Heron Joinery combine the soft aesthetics of a timber product as well as producing a reliable long service life, that comes with a hardwood product.

Hardwoods such as the Agba species are ideally suited for exterior joinery in the harsher climates of the western seaboard of the UK.  This is due to the nature of the Agba making it a very stable product able to handle the temperature and humidity gradients and also having good durability classifications, perfect characteristics for windows and doors.
